The Omnilux Red Light Therapy (Photodynamic Therapy / PDT) is technology based on using a narrow band of light delivered through Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The light technology works because cells within the body contain receptors that absorb light naturally. When the body is exposed to light, these receptors absorb the light waves and kick-start a cellular response. By harnessing this receptive cellular state the effect of active skin care products can be greatly enhanced.

How Does it Work

The Omnilux Revive or Red Light (PDT) acts to energise and repair damaged skin and uneven skin tone and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Omnilux Revive delivers a precise wavelength of visible red light that penetrates deep into the skin to stimulate fibroblast activity to naturally boost the production of collagen (the protein responsible for plump, healthy skin).

Sometimes a topical photo-sensitiser is applied on the skin before exposing it to the PDT-light. Depending on the time applied and the strength used this may be more sensitive etc. but is more effective in addressing photo-ageing of the skin. All these different options will be discussed in detail before a decision is made.
