What to expect after a Lactic Acid Peel

  • Following a Lactic Acid Peel there is usually no obvious peeling of the skin and no disruption to normal work or social commitments
  • Some people experience a slight irritation, flaking and/or redness which will usually subside quickly
  • Lactic Peels work by enhancing the skin’s own regenerative capacity and it is not necessary to see peeling for them to be working
  • If an Ultrasonophoresis treatment is performed in conjunction with a Lactic Peel some flaking should be expected

What to expect after a Mandelic Acid Peel

  • Immediately following the peel, generally there is a minimal redness present
  • 1-2 days after the peel mild flaking may occur
  • Please note it isn’t necessary for the skin to flake in order for the peel to work

What to expect after a VitaPeel:

  • Following a VitaPeel peeling of the skin can be expected.
  • Some people also experience irritation, flaking and/or redness which will usually subside quickly

After care for all Peels

To minimise the risk of complications it is important that clients follow all post treatment instructions carefully.  This is as follows:

  1. Apply moisturiser regularly after treatment to maintain levels of skin hydration. We recommend Ultra Moisturiser Cream or Ultimate Bio-Repair Moisturiser
  2. Apply sunscreen daily with protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 50+.  Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for 2 weeks after your treatment
  3. Make-up can be used as desired
  4. Avoid the use of exfoliants, astringents, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHAs and BHA products for 5-7 days after your treatment.  In the absence of irritation these products can be recommended after this period of time (Can use Vitamin C products)
  5. Do not exfoliate or pick at peeling skin as this can increase the chance of infection or hyperpigmentation.
  6. Avoid rigorous exercise, applying excessive heat to the treated area including saunas, stream baths and hot showers or chlorinated and saltwater pools for 48 hours following your treatment
  7. Avoid facial waxing, electrolysis, IPL, laser and the use of hair removal creams for 2 weeks after your treatment
  8. Any pain is abnormal and may be an indication of infection. In this situation please contact one of our nurses immediately

Note:  Complications are often the result of:

  • Poor aftercare
  • Picking and/or peeling the skin off
  • Premature exposure to the sun
  • Skin reaction to specific ingredients (should be eliminated by preparing skin with the Even Skintone Range)
  • Can use paw-paw ointment on micro scuffs or a few hotspots
  • For heavier reaction, can use Cortisone cream from the Chemist
  • For blistering/hives/allergic reaction – you need to contact one of our nurses or come in for review

Suggested Home care for 5-7 days:

Normal/Dry Skin Types:

  • Ultra Hydrating Milk Cleanser / Ultra Balancing Gel Cleanser
  • Ultra Moisturiser Cream / Ultra Rich Moisturising Cream / Ultimate Bio-Repair Moisturiser • Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 50+ (Hydrating)

Normal/Oily Skin Types:

  • Ultra Balancing Gel Cleanser / Ultra Clear Foaming Cleanser • Ultra Hydrating Lotion or Ultra Moisturiser Cream
  • Protective Daily Moisturiser 50+ (Mattifying)

Four to eight treatments two weeks apart are recommended for optimal results. These treatments can also be combined with UltraSonophoresis infusion of Vitamin B, C and Biorepair ingredients and/or the Omnilux Revive Light.

UltraSonophoresis:

UltraSonophoresis uses low frequency ultrasonic vibrations to provide increased absorption of antiodxidant Vitamin B & C creams and moisturisers. UltraSonophoresis visibly improves skin texture, firmness and pigmentation, while optimising moisture levels.

Omnilux Revive Light Treatment (PDT):

Omnilux Revive Light Therapy on its own can be used for the reduction in facial wrinkles and skin furrows. The treatment has no downtime for the patient or pain issues.

Omnilux Revive Light Treatment is an ideal adjunctive to chemical peel treatment, either before the peel to prepare the skin’s reparative cells or after the peel to enhance tissue regeneration, increase cell vitality and reduce downtime.

Omnilux Revive can also be used pre or post-Botox injections. This provides an increased longevity to the effects of Botox. The light treatment improves vascular activity within the skin and achieves a healthier, plumper skin appearance.
