Anti Wrinkle Injections
Botulinum toxin type A (Botox) is injected to temporarily relax overactive muscles or reduce ‘dynamic wrinkles’ on the face. These wrinkles are due to the repeated contraction of facial muscles. The injection contains a muscle relaxant obtained from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.
Botox can be used cosmetically to improve the look of vertical frown lines that appear between the eyebrows, lines around the eyes (‘crowsfeet’) and on the forehead.
As the effect of Botulinum toxin is only temporary, injections usually need to be repeated every 3 – 6 months for sustained benefit.
